What is Compostable?
No liquids. No plastic bags or liners. When in doubt, leave it out!
Food Scraps
Fruit and vegetable scraps. Breads, pastas and grains. Eggshells and nutshells. Meat, fish, poultry and beans. Coffee filters and grounds. Teabags and tea leaves. Dairy products (yogurt, cheese, etc.) Leftovers.
Food-Soiled Paper
Greasy pizza delivery boxes. Food-soiled paper towels and napkins (no tissues or bathroom waste). Uncoated paper plates, cups, food wraps and bags.* Paper egg cartons and berry cartons. Paper grocery bags with food scraps.
Yard Debris
Flowers and houseplants (no pots). Grass, leaves, weeds, pine needles, pine cones, thatch, vines, roots, twigs and plant trimmings. Small amounts of sod (no rocks). Branches (less than 6 feet long and 3 inches in diameter). Halloween pumpkins. Holiday trees (undecorated, 4’ lengths, no flocking).
How Does Service Work?
- When you sign up for Yard and Food Waste Recycling Service, you will receive a 96-gallon cart
- Your Yard and Food Waste cart will be collected weekly on your garbage day.
- During the months of December through February, your Yard and Food Waste will only be collected on your first garbage collection day of each month.

Carts with unacceptable materials will be dumped as garbage and charged an additional fee.
